In one paragraph
Every guide is checked against official documentation from the vendor (Apple, Google, Microsoft and others) and from public agencies such as the FTC, CISA, the FBI and the UK's NCSC. Step-by-step guides are followed on the devices listed in the guide. Each guide shows a "Last verified" date and a "How we checked this" box that says what was tested and what was not.
What "verified" means
- Step-by-step guides are followed on real devices. The guide lists the device and the exact operating system or app version used.
- Incident and scam guides are compared, step by step, with current guidance from public agencies and the affected platforms.
- When something could not be tested, for example a menu that differs by phone manufacturer, the guide says so instead of guessing.
Sources we rely on
In order of preference:
- Official documentation from the company that makes the product or service.
- Public agencies: the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) and the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
- Published research from recognised security organisations.
Every guide ends with a list of its sources so you can check them yourself.
Keeping guides current
Security settings move around with every software update. Guides are reviewed at least every six months, and sooner after major operating-system releases or when a reader reports a change. The "Last verified" date at the top of each guide is updated only when the steps have actually been rechecked.
Product comparisons
- Products are only compared after being used, on an account paid for by Zuuun or on the product's public free plan.
- We do not accept free products, payment or other benefits in exchange for coverage.
- Comparisons include what we would not recommend, and why.
- Where a good free option exists, it is mentioned.
How we use AI tools
We use AI tools to help with research, outlining and first drafts, the same way many writers use a search engine or a spell checker. Every guide is checked, edited and approved by a person before it is published. AI is never used to invent test results, screenshots, quotes or personal experiences, and the "How we checked this" box always describes what a person actually did.
Corrections
If you find an error, please tell us through the contact page. Confirmed corrections are made promptly and noted at the end of the guide with the date.
